Expand Your Earth Connection in May by Bridgette Raitz on 4/28/2018

It's hard to think of a better time to expand your earth connection than May!  This fabulous month is known for weddings, graduations, and my favorite national holiday, Mother's Day!  It's also a great time to gratefully celebrate milestones and connections that resonate throughout a lifetime.  So what better relationship to explore, amplify and expand than our connection to Mother Earth?

This year, Earth Day passed with barely a whisper given the currently chaotic news cycles that bombard us each day.  So, I decided in my own small way, to take a moment to celebrate this amazing planet and see if I might suggest some wonderful stone companions that can help deepen your connection to Mother Nature.  Our beautiful planet needs healing, respect and love---- now more than ever! So whether you are on a mission to improve our treatment of the planet, or just feel best when your toes are in the sand and you feel the tide running in and out, here are some stones that may keep you aligned with the wonder of Nature.

First up?  A personal favorite of mine--- mookite jasper (also called "mook jasper"). Mookite jasper is found in the Mooka Creek area of western Australia.  An aboriginal stone that is used for healing and magic, it is said to guard against negativity.  Mookite has been referred to as a stone of Gaia, as it is very active and full of earth energy, both for our connection to the planet and to aid its healing and regeneration.

Mookite jasper accelerates an inner knowing, allowing us to become one with the energy currents of the earth to maximize our will, personal power and intuition. It is said to help one “know” which direction to take and can help channel restlessness into plans.  On the physical level, mookite is said to help the body heal itself by strengthening the immune system, healing wounds and easing worries.

Finally, mookite is believed to also be excellent for cultivating both an ageless mind, body and spirit through a higher vibration.  With a powerful understanding of the past, it helps us recognize and clear ancestral patterns, breaking the patterns for the future. Mookite has a high vibration that assists us in connecting with the natural world and our true nature and talents. I say ----sign me up for that! (Interestingly, this is also one of the stones that is easiest to feel--- a great starting stone for those hoping to open to stone vibrations.)

Two other kindred stones with a symbiotic connection to Mother Earth are tree agate and moss agate. Tree agate is a form of chalcedony with green dendritic inclusions and markings that are caused by iron and manganese oxides. This stone helps to connect the base and heart  chakras, opening the connection to both Mother Earth and the spirits of Nature.  In addition, it is believed that tree agate is a stone of abundance and manifestation, allowing dreams and ideas to become reality.  This beauty is also a peaceful and stabilizing stone- calming tempers and balancing emotions.  Like its sister, moss agate, it is great for general well being.

Moss Agate has a very positive energy, increasing hope and optimism and self-confidence. Like tree agate, it is said to attract abundance and is a stone of new beginnings helping to release fears and blockages that might be holding you back. Moss agate is also strongly connected to nature. In healing, Moss Agate is believed to speed up recovery from illness or injury and to boost the immune system.

Our next lovelies are rainbow moonstone and white moonstone, both of which have a deep and mystical connection to the Divine Feminine and earth energies. Rainbow moonstone is a stone of great light that brings joy, great vitality and the goddess life force.  It can help spread positive energy through the aura and offers inner peace, optimism and harmony.  Rainbow moonstone is a protective stone that can preserve clarity, support emotional balance and promote emotional healing.  It carries with it the feminine aspects of the Goddess and can align the chakras.  This stone encourages each to be their own soul radiating joy.

White Moonstone carries the energy of the new moon at the height of its power, stimulating psychic perception, vision and dream work. It can magnify one's emotions, activating the kundalini energy in women and emotional balance in men, and is supportive in children to drive away nightmares or insomnia.

Next up?  Polychrome jasper. This amazing stone was discovered in 2006 in Madagascar. Named for its multi colors, it stabilizes, balances and grounds the emotional energy of the body.   Polychrome Jasper is a stone that is connected to Mother Earth- and is said to improve access to the raw materials and energies needed to make your ideas, wishes and dreams come to life.  Polychrome is very varied in appearance and is said to enhance physical energy and vitality, as it helps release blocks to the creativity and manifestation.

Like all jaspers, it is a supreme nurturer, helping balance and align the physical, mental, and spiritual bodies with the higher self.  Polychrome enhances courage and determination and has a strong earth connection.

And last, but certainly not least, is apophyllite, which comes in clear and green varieties (seen here in the left of the picture with peachy stilbite). Apophyllites are stones that carry a higher vibration, allowing you to more easily access the higher realms.  They are said to help you attune to unseen realities, lifting the veil.

As stones of higher consciousness, apophyllites clear the crown chakra, and assist you in being present.  Green apophyllites enhance the connection to Nature, while clear apophyllites enhance interaction with the angelic realm. Apophyllites infuse the body and aura with high-frequency light energy, opening psychic talents and improving vision.

In addition to these wonderful companions, there are a large number of others that carry a strong connection to earth energies including chrysophase, gold obsidian, jet, lemurian jade, apatite and the Gaia stone.  There is no shortage of choices if you want to find one that expands your appreciation, devotion and love of Nature. All it takes is a little time to find the one that is perfect for you!
